The Honolulu Board of Water Supply Expands Its Commercial Rebate Program To Include Cooling Tower Equipment

For many commercial facilities, it can be costly to operate a cooling tower since a lot of facilities don’t know how much water their tower uses and how to increase tower efficiency. The Board of Water Supply (BWS) has expanded its Commercial Rebate Program to include rebates on three cooling tower components to encourage even more water savings among its commercial customers.

This new rebate can recoup up to 25% of the cost for the following components:

  • Conductivity controller
  • Flow meter
  • Overflow alarm

Installing these products will improve operational efficiency, considerably reduce water usage, and help to lower operating costs.

“A commercial building with a cooling tower system that installs these components, has the chance to save about 584,000 gallons of precious wai (water) annually,” said BWS Manager Ernest Lau. “That equates to $5,000 of yearly water and sewer savings.”

Customers who purchase all three in a bundle can receive an additional $250 bonus. To qualify, each component(s) must be purchased on or after December 5, 2022.

Learn more about this rebate and others at www.boardofwatersupply.com.

For questions, please email contactus@hbws.org or call 808-748-5040.

1Savings are based on a 200-ton tower that increases cycles of concentration by installing a new conductivity controller. Savings will vary based on system size and preventative maintenance triggered by overflow alarms and data collected from the flow meter
