Public Can Now View Monthly BWS Board Meetings

Water Agency Airs Proceedings on Agency’s Website and Olelo Cable TV to Foster Openness and Transparency

HONOLULU – The Board of Water Supply (BWS) is pleased to announce that its Board of Directors meetings are now available for public viewing on its website at www.boardofwatersupply.com/videoondemand and on Olelo Television Ch. 49.

“We are excited to record our monthly Board of Directors meetings so Oahu water users can now view them,” said BWS Manager and Chief Engineer Ernest Lau. “Our meetings have always been open to the public; however, most people cannot attend because the meetings take place during regular business hours.  This is another important achievement in the BWS’s continuing efforts to promote transparency of our decision-making processes.”

A seven-member board presides over the semi-autonomous City water agency and sets its policies through these monthly meetings. Five at-large members are appointed by the Mayor and approved by City Council. Two members are ex-officio.

The public can view the list of Olelo airdates for the BWS Board meetings – starting with the November 27, 2017, meeting – on the BWS’s website at www.boardofwatersupply.com/boardmeetings.
