Water Conservation Week Contests

2025 Theme: "Worth of Wai"

Contest Theme

Water conservation means using our limited water supply wisely and caring for it properly. Since each of us depends on water for life, it is our responsibility to learn more about water conservation and how we can take an active role in ensuring sustainability of Oahu’s water supply.

The Board of Water Supply encourages students to reflect on, and convey in their artwork or poem, simple actions that anyone can do to save water. No water-conserving effort is too small - everyone can do their part to use our precious drinking water resources wisely and contribute to an island-wide commitment to a sustainable future.

The contest theme itself does not need to appear in the artwork or poetry. However, entries should reflect the theme and depict or demonstrate water conservation efforts for fresh, drinking water. Students may depict but are not limited to these concepts: general water conservation indoors, outdoors, at home, at work, and at play; sustaining water resources for future generations; watershed protection; and the water cycle.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Entries will be reviewed by a panel of judges, whose decisions are final.
  • Poster entries will be judged by the ability to convey the contest theme, focusing only on fresh, drinking water, visual effectiveness, creativity, and originality in addition to adherence to contest rules and requirements.
  • Poetry entries will be judged by the ability to convey the contest theme, focusing only on fresh, drinking water, creativity, originality, and diction in addition to adherence to contest rules and requirements.

Contest Deadline: Frodau, February 28, 2025 at 4:30 p.m.
