The Board of Water Supply (BWS) and Department of Planning and Permitting (DPP), City and County of Honolulu, have completed the Waianae Watershed Management Plan (WWMP), which will be used to meet the requirement of the State Water Code and City Ordinance to prepare a county water use and development plan. Waianae is one of eight district plans that together will comprise the Oahu Water Management Plan.
The Waianae Watershed Management Plan was finalized in August 2009.
To formulate an environmentally holistic, community-based, and economically viable watershed management plan that will provide a balance between:

38,089 acres; approximately 45,000 people
Nanakuli, Lualualei, Waianae, Makaha, Keaau, Ohikilolo, Makua, Kahanahaiki, Keawaula
Throughout the project, the team held several public “working group” meetings and other forms of consultations with community leaders, community groups and organizations, land owners, and public agencies.
