Temporary, Non-Civil Service Employment

  • Job Title: Air Conditioning Mechanic 
    Duties: Conducts regular visual inspections and operational tests of all air conditioning and refrigeration systems which include air handling units, fan coil units, chillers, compressors, condensers, split systems, window units, cooling towers, ventilation fans, chilled and condenser water pumps, and ice machines, etc.

  • Job Title: Collections Representative
    Duties: Supports the Board of Water Supply’s delinquency collection activities by handling inbound and outbound calls to/from delinquent customers; tracks account status, issues payment agreements, and input and monitor the information in the computer system.

  • Job Title: Electrician
    Duties: Responsible for building electrical systems, equipment and appurtenant fixtures for all BWS corporation/base yards and pumping facilities.  Conducts regular visual inspections and operational tests; installs, maintains, and repairs the building electrical components.

  • Job Title: Environmental Management Specialist
    Duties: Plans, determines and enforces the department’s water system compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations related to the elimination and prevention of environmental pollution.

  • Job Title: Field Collection Representative
    Duties: Directly contacts delinquent customers to collect overdue payments. Explains departmental rules and regulations. Drives to make field contacts to issue warning and final action notices. May need to remove excess dirt or pick/cut surrounding roots as necessary.

  • Job Title: Information Systems Security Officer
    Duties: Serves as an Information Systems Security Officer for the Board of Water Supply, oversees all IT risk management activities, and is responsible for establishing and maintaining an organization wide Information Security Program (Policies and Procedures) to ensure that systems and information assets are adequately protected. Ensures compliance through the implementation of recurring vulnerability and risk assessments and exercises. Determines acceptable levels of IT system risk for the organization, working with the management team. The work requires professional experience in system security/cyber security and CISSP, or other comparable security certification.

  • Job Title: Laboratory Water Quality Assurance Specialist
    Duties: Plans, coordinates, implements, monitors and administers a comprehensive drinking water laboratory quality assurance program.

  • Job Title: Meter Reader I
    Duties: Collects accurate and timely water consumption data from the Board of Water Supply customers on an assigned route through the use of a vehicle-based Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) system, a hand-held reader, or by visual readings. Returns to site of unread meters to locate meters and obtain meter readings visually or by a hand-held device. Downloads daily route information to the vehicle-based AMR system computer.
