The Friends of Halawa Xeriscape Garden (FOHXG) is a non-profit community organization dedicated to educational programs that promote water conservation on the landscape. Established in 1989, the Friends have continued to provide support through volunteers and educational activities for the Garden's landscape water conservation program.
Join the FOHXG and become a part of an exciting group of garden-lovers who save water! Volunteers are need for a wide range of needed tasks:
Despite using 21st century technology to help reduce costs when advertising and communicating with members and the community through websites, social media and emails, the FOHXG still has the need to send a number of these communications via "snail-mail." Membership fees have remained the same for 25 years, but the cost of doing business as a nonprofit and educational program continues to rise. Even though the FOHXG utilizes creative solutions to address some of those expenses, we regretfully need to raise our membership fees in 2013. Membership increases begin March 1, 2013. We will continue to remain creatively frugal, always looking for a better way to get the job done. The raise in membership fees will continue to allow us to offer quality workshops, creative outcomes and xeric challenges.
