HXG Workshop: Painting Bamboo

painting bambooThe first of our “Paint in the Garden,” Series for this new workshop schedule is a fun-filled, NO PAINTING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED workshop! Participants will receive step-by-step instructions from start to finish. As they complete their masterpiece they will learn about unique characteristics of Bamboo. Use of this  drought tolerant plant in your landscape can help reduce outdoor water consumption. This creative hands-on workshop is offered by the Board of Water Supply (BWS), Friends of Halawa Xeriscape Garden (FOHXG) and Erika Brown, member of FOHXG.

Details

Participants will have fun creating an impressionistic bamboo painting on a spacious 11” x 14” canvas. Instructor Erika Brown will coach students on the use of acrylic paints and how to use layering, blending and shading techniques to give their masterpiece just the right look. Painting in the Garden: Bamboo Workshop is for ages 10 years old and older. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Participants should bring an apron and have the option of packing a meal and/or snack with beverage.

Advanced registration is required. Registration opens Tuesday, September 24, 2019, and closes at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 2019, or when all spaces are filled. Call (808) 748-5315 or email workshops@hbws.org to register.
