Planned Water Outage for a Portion of Kailua Beach Park on September 1

HONOLULU – Contractors for the Board of Water Supply’s (BWS) Lanikai Water System Improvements, Part II, project, will be conducting a planned water outage affecting the Kalapawai-side of Kailua Beach Park on Wednesday, September 1, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The outage is required for the contractors to establish a bypass to maintain water service for the Kailua Beach and Lanikai areas during water main replacement work on the Kawailoa Bridge. The BWS will be providing two portable toilets (one standard and one ADA-compliant) for use by park users during the outage.

This planned work is subject to change. As a reminder to motorists, please expect traffic delays from lane closures at various locations in the vicinity of the work area, Mondays through Fridays, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., except for observed State holidays. Based on the current schedule, work to replace the pipe along the bridge is anticipated to be completed by December 2021.

The BWS appreciates the community’s patience and kokua as this important project is completed. The work will result in a more resilient water system serving the area.
