Makakilo Water System Improvements, Part III Project

HONOLULU – MEI Corporation, the Board of Water Supply’s (BWS) contractor for the Makakilo Water System Improvements, Part III project is scheduled to begin work on or after April 19, 2021. The renewal of the water system will improve water service reliability for customers in the area.

The project will install approximately 11,000 feet of 8-inch water mains, 900 feet of 4-inch water mains, and 700 feet of 2.5-inch mains. Makakilo-Water-System-Improvements-Part-III.jpg

The work will affect the following areas: 
• Mehani Street between Auwaea Street and Akaula Street
• Mehani Place 
• Newa Street
• Newa Place
• Nenelea Street
• Nohona Street between Akaula Street and Lihau Street
• Nohopaa Street
• Nohopono Street
• Nohohale Street
• Palailai Place
• Palailai Street between Nohohale Street and Nohona Street
• Lihau Street between Nohohale Street and Newa Street

Road work will occur Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and will involve lane closures at various locations throughout the work area. Area residents and motorists are advised to expect delays and exercise caution when driving through the worksite during construction hours. Based on the current schedule, this project will be completed in the third quarter of 2022.
