BWS to End Suspension of Water Shutoffs for Nonpayment on July 31, 2021


HONOLULU – The Board of Water Supply (BWS) will end its suspension of water shutoffs for nonpayment of water and sewer bills on July 31, 2021. Customers who wish to avoid water shutoff will need to make payment or establish a payment arrangement before then. Information about financial support programs and the form to request a payment arrangement are available on the BWS website at

Customers without Internet access may call 748-5070 for assistance -- please note that wait times could be long due to high call volumes.

The BWS had deferred water shutoffs due to the emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Customers are responsible for all outstanding water and sewer balances on their account. The BWS, along with the City Department of Environmental Services, encourages customers to use these available bill payment options.  More detail about each method is online at

  • Obtain account information and pay your bill 24/7 via:
    • Pay-by-Phone service at (808) 204-4234 or
    • Online at
  • Payment drop box outside of the building at 630 S. Beretania St.
  • In-person with cashiering staff in the lobbyNo appointment needed. 
  • Mail to P.O. Box 135037, Honolulu, Hawaii 96801-5037
  • Automatic deduction from the customer’s checking account.

Customers may also receive phone calls from BWS personnel who will inform them of their outstanding balance and discuss payment options. While we will request that payment be made, the BWS will not demand payment on the spot and will not request confidential personal or banking information. When in doubt, do not provide any information and immediately hang up. Then contact the BWS at its published phone number, 748-5000, for assistance, or visit for payment options.

The BWS also reminds the public that its lobby is open for in-person water and/or sewer bill payments -- no appointment needed.  For other account and billing needs, customers must make an appointment.
