Rock Your Garden

Halawa Xeriscape Garden Workshop

What

Discover why using scientific names for our plants is important. Make it fun to use those names and create permanent rock labels you can place by your plants.  This creative learning workshop is offered by the Board of Water Supply (BWS) and Friends of Halawa Xeriscape Garden (FOHXG) and Lynne Berry Westlake, member of FOHXG and Certified Master Gardener. Learn how to “Rock Your Garden” by clearly labelling your plants thus making your garden uniquely special.

Details

Participants will paint two-three garden rocks, incorporating the common and scientific name of their chosen plant. If you don’t know the name of your plant, take a picture and bring it to the workshop.  No prior experience necessary. Instructor Lynne Berry Westlake will introduce different techniques you may use in painting your garden rocks. We will use acrylic paints which easily wash off skin.  We recommend wearing comfortable attire you don’t mind getting some paint on. Participants have the option of bringing a meal and/or snack with beverage. These personalized garden rocks will be a decorative addition to any garden!
