HONOLULU – Board of Water Supply (BWS) crews have fully restored water service to the Hawaii Loa 800’ Reservoir that underwent cleaning this past week. Residents between Maono Loop and Moaniala Street are no longer asked to conserve water and may resume normal use.
The BWS thanks the Hawaii Loa Ridge community for their patience and understanding while the work was being done to clean the Hawaii Loa 800’ Reservoir and bring it back online.
Then, beginning June 8 through the end of the week, the Board of Water Supply (BWS) will be continuing its reservoir maintenance work in Hawaii Loa Ridge. During this period, the Hawaii Loa 475’ Reservoir in lower Hawaii Loa Ridge will be shut off from supplying water. Residents from the entrance of Hawaii Loa Ridge up until Lelekepue Place. are asked to please use water for essential needs only (cooking, drinking, and personal hygiene) until further notice.
The reservoir will be flushed using existing pumps, located at a BWS facility at 184 Puuikena Drive, that will run 24 hours a day. The BWS apologizes for the inconvenience and appreciates the community’s patience while the work is being done.
After the work is completed, area customers may experience an elevated chlorine taste in the water. The elevated levels are not harmful and the water will be safe to drink.
Questions may be directed to the BWS 24-7 trouble line at 748-5000, extension 1.
