Water System Improvement Project in Waianae

HONOLULU – Integrated Construction, Inc., the Board of Water Supply’s (BWS) contractor for the Puhawai Road, Kuwale Road and Puuhulu Road Water System Improvements project is scheduled to begin work on July 6. The renewal of the water system will improve water service reliability for customers in the area.

The project will replace approximately 10,600 feet of 8-inch water mains installed from the 1930s through the 1960s.

The work will affect the following areas:

•    Puhawai Road from Puuhulu Road to Paheehee Road
•    Wikolia Place
•    Puuhulu Road from Puhawai Road to Kuwale Road
•    Kuwale Road from Puuhulu Road to 340 feet south of Paheehee Road
•    Haama Place
•    Puuhulu Place
•    Government Road

Additionally, the City and County of Honolulu Department of Design and Construction has incorporated their paving work into this project.  After the waterline work is completed, roadway paving work will begin.  Road work will occur Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and will involve lane closures at various locations throughout the work area. Area residents and motorists are advised to expect delays and use alternate routes during construction hours. Based on the current schedule, this project will be completed in the fourth quarter of 2021.
