Board of Water Supply Main Break Information

Customers May Check BWS Website for Updates

HONOLULU – If Oahu residents or businesses suspect that a main break may be affecting their water service, they may now check the Board of Water Supply (BWS) website to see if an outage has been reported in their area.

The main breaks information page – www.boardofwatersupply.com/mainbreaks - is a convenient way for BWS customers to find basic details about reported water main breaks, 4” or larger, that may be impacting Oahu’s municipal water system. Information is posted online as it becomes available, including location, cross streets, pipe size, the date and time when water service was turned off and/or turned on, and, if deployed, the location of any water wagons provided for residents in the area.

“Water is an essential service, and we want to ensure that our customers have convenient ways to learn about possible impacts to their water service,” said Ernest Lau, BWS Manager and Chief Engineer. “If customers don’t use social media, they can go to our website for basic outage information. If they don’t see information for their area and they still suspect something is affecting their water service, they can still call our hotline at 748-5000 and press ‘1’ at the prompt to speak with a BWS dispatcher.”

Social media and HNL.Info – a free SMS, email or push notification service from the City and County of Honolulu – remain BWS’s primary methods of informing the public about major water main breaks and other news affecting Oahu’s municipal water system. To get the latest updates from BWS, please follow @BWSHonolulu on Facebook or Twitter, or check for updates on HNL.Info or Nextdoor.com – a community-based, private social media network.
