HONOLULU – On Tuesday, June 25, Board of Water Supply (BWS) contractor, MEI Corporation, is scheduled to begin a project to install approximately 658 feet of 6-inch, 8-inch, and 12-inch water mains along Pensacola Street, from Kinau Street to Young Street, in Makiki.

The renewal of the water system will improve water service reliability and fire protection for customers in the area. The existing waterlines were installed at various times, ranging from the 1920s through the 1930s.

Road work will occur Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and will involve lane closures at various locations throughout the work area. Nightwork will take place, when necessary, at the intersection of Pensacola Street and Young Street. Area residents and motorists are advised to expect delays and use alternate routes during construction hours. Based on the current schedule, this project will be completed in the fourth quarter of 2019. Questions and comments may be directed to the BWS Construction Section at 748-5730 or by emailing contactus@hbws.org.
