Leak Detection and Repair Saves Water and Money

detect a leak week 2019According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the average American home can waste more than 10,000 gallons of water every year from running toilets, dripping faucets, and other household leaks. That’s why it’s important for all water users to check their plumbing fixtures for leaks.

During Detect-A-Leak Week, all Oahu water users are asked to check for leaks in toilets, plumbing fixtures, irrigation systems, and other water-using equipment. To help with this effort, free toilet leak detection dye tablets are available at all Satellite City Halls, City Mill stores, and the BWS lobby at 630 South Beretania Street. City Mill is also offering a 15 percent discount on toilet flapper valves from March 18-24, please see stores for qualifying purchases and additional details.

Those who want to conduct their own leak inspection can visit the BWS website www.boardofwatersupply.com or on Facebook and Twitter for tips on how to check for leaks. More information about leaks and conservation is also available by calling the BWS at 748-5041.
