Attending today’s event were representatives from Sodexo; the Friends of the Halawa Xeriscape Garden; Hard Rock Café; and Board of Water Supply/Hawaiian Telcom Federal Credit Union.

“These organizations are generously contributing to a program that inspires our keiki to appreciate and care for our valuable water resources,” said Mayor Caldwell. “This helps ensure the long-term viability of our water supply that sustains our residents and vibrant economy.”

“We are honored that these major and other sponsors continue to help us carry out this well-established outreach program every year,” said BWS Manager and Chief Engineer Ernest Lau. “Together, the BWS and these caring members of our community are encouraging Oahu’s young water users to preserve and protect our precious groundwater now and into the future.”

Winning and honorable-mention entries from the contest will be featured in the 2018 Water Conservation Calendar that will be distributed to all Oahu schools and elected officials, as well as to the general public, at the end of this year.  They will also be on display at various locations throughout the year.  For more information about the BWS’s Water Conservation Week Contests, please visit: http://www.boardofwatersupply.com/conservation/bws-conservation-program.
