Dam Improvements at Nuuanu Reservoir

HONOLULU – Drayko Construction, Inc., is working at the Board of Water Supply’s (BWS) Nuuanu Reservoir #4 site to repair and rehabilitate the dam structure, reservoir intake tower and suspension bridge, reservoir drainage and maintenance road. The project is necessary for the BWS to maintain operational adequacy of the Nuuanu Reservoir #4 dam. Working hours for the project are Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

nuuanu warning signThe project site is located on protected watershed land off of Pali Highway. For safety reasons, any hikers in the area are asked to please abide by posted signage and not wander into the work area as it is an active construction site. Unauthorized persons found at the construction site will be escorted off the site and can be cited for trespassing onto government property. Under the Hawaii Revised Statues, Section 708-815, any person issued a citation for trespassing is required to make a court appearance and may face fines up to $1,000, community service, and/or up to six months in prison. To avoid the penalties associated with trespassing, please remain outside the construction work area.

The need for the project was identified during regular site inspections of BWS facilities. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of spring 2019. Questions and comments may be directed to the BWS Construction Section at 748-5730 or email contactus@hbws.org.
