BWS Invites Public to Learn about its Beretania Complex Redevelopment Project

Agency evaluating three alternative concepts to generate alternate revenue stream

HONOLULU – The Board of Water Supply (BWS) will be holding a public information meeting, in advance of the release of the draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS), to present its plan to redevelop a portion of its Beretania Complex. The meeting will be on Thursday, November 8, 2018, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the Central Middle School Cafeteria at 1302 Queen Emma St.

The BWS will share three concepts to redevelop approximately three acres of land currently occupied by its fleet and employee parking lots at its Beretania headquarters. These concepts will be explored as part of the DEIS process.

“The BWS is evaluating three alternative designs for part of our Beretania property to generate lease revenue and offset a portion of costs for our operations and capital improvement program,” said BWS Manager and Chief Engineer Ernest Lau. “We are holding this informational meeting to share these alternatives with the community as part of the environmental review process.”

The BWS plans to seek community involvement from the public as it goes through the development process.
