Pensacola Street Water System Improvement Project

MEI Corporation, will replace approximately 658 feet of water main along Pensacola Street from Young Street to Kinau Street.

The renewal of the water system will improve water service reliability and fire protection for customers in the area.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

  • Approximately 658 feet of 6-inch, 8-inch and 12-inch waterline and appurtenances installed from the 1920s to the 1930s in the following area:
    • Pensacola Street from Young Street to Kinau Street
  • The project started on June 25, 2019.
  • Contractor: MEI Corporation
  • Working hours: Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., excluding holidays. Night work will take place when necessary.

PROJECT AND TRAFFIC UPDATES AS OF DECEMBER 30, 2019

Beginning January 8, 2020, Board of Water Supply (BWS) contractor, MEI Corporation, will resume construction activities on Pensacola Street, between Young Street and Kinau Street. Barring schedule changes due to weather conditions, area motorists should anticipate significant traffic delays and use alternate routes during the following dates and times:

January 8-10, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

  • Repaving the trenched portions of roadway.

January 21-27, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

  • Traffic signal loop detector installation.

January 28-31, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

  • Restriping of the roadway.

This road work is part of the final phases of the water system improvement project on Pensacola Street, from Young Street to Kinau Street.
