Ross Sasamura currently serves as a member, ex-officio, of the Board of Directors for the Board of Water Supply (BWS). As Director of the City Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM), Sasamura is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of city’s streets, sidewalks, drainage infrastructure, and vehicles, as well as groundskeeping and custodial services for city buildings. Sasamura oversees 700 positions within his department and manages a budget of $85.7 million.
Before returning to work for the City and County in 2013, Sasamura was employed in the private sector as Director of Operations at Heide & Cook Ltd.—a mechanical contractor and air-conditioning service company—where he oversaw the Construction Operations division. He also co-founded Commercial Training Consultants and was a senior associate trainer at Pacific Training and Development.
Sasamura is an alumnus of Punahou and earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan. He holds 14 U.S. patents for his mechanical designs and projects. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons, who are also all Punahou alumni.
