painting bird of paradiseThe second of our “Paint in the Garden,” Series, this season is a fun-filled, NO PAINTING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED workshop! This workshop is inspired by one of Hawaii’s favorite flowers, the Bird of Paradise. Participants will receive step by step instructions from start to finish while learning how the Bird of Paradise can be easily incorporated in to their landscape and reduce outdoor water consumption. This new and exciting, hands-on workshop is offered by the Board of Water Supply (BWS), Friends of Halawa Xeriscape Garden (FOHXG) and Erika Brown, member of FOHXG.

Cost

$30 for general public and Friends of Halawa membership “Friend” level
$25 for supporting, corporate and lifetime memberships

Details

Instructor Erika Brown will coach students on the use of acrylic paints and how to use layering, blending and shading techniques to give their masterpiece just the right look. Create your masterpiece on a 11”x14” canvas that you would be proud to display on your wall while making new friends and learning about this xeric favorite. The Bird of Paradise Painting Workshop is for ages 10 years old and older; children must be accompanied by an adult. Participants should bring an apron and have the option of packing a meal and/or snack with beverage.

Advanced registration is required. Registration opens Tuesday, January 15, 2019, and closes at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 1, 2019, or when all spaces are filled. Call (808) 748-5315 or email workshops@hbws.org to register. BWS security and workshop registration requires submittal of participant’s full name, home address, phone number, and email address where applicable.
