Details

Hypertufa is an artificial material mixture of Portland cement, perlite and sphagnum moss. This workshop uses Hypertufa and an old towel, to create a curvy, textured, bowl like planter. Its composition is much more lightweight and permeable, than traditional cement allowing for more creative and textured dishes.

The method we will be using puts a new spin on our classic Hypertufa Workshop where we once placed the Hypertufa mixture into a container. This new method requires us to soak a recycled towel in the Hypertufa mix, then creatively drape it over a container of your choice. You will actually be covering the outside of your container with the soaked towel and allow time to cure.

Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. Bring an apron and container that matches the size of bowl you will want to place your plants in. Bring an old towel large enough to cover your container, even torn towels will work for this project. We will supply the gloves, mixture and direction. With an ounce of creativity, participants can fashion artful containers that are practical and beautiful for your garden or lanai.
