Halawa Xeriscape Garden
Visit the garden and learn about xeric (dry) plants and techniques to conserve water outdoors. Open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Get directions.

Haiku Stairs is Permanently Closed
Also known as the "Stairway to Heaven," Haiku Stairs is located on private property owned by the City and County of Honolulu for the use of the BWS.

  • The land under the stairs is designated as essential watershed land and protected under Revised Ordinances of Honolulu Section 40-3.1
  • Trespassing on watershed property is a criminal offense, requiring a court appearance, and punishable by fines up to $600 and/or up to six months in prison
