The new 2018 Water Conservation Calendar, showcasing winning artwork and poetry from the 2017 poster and poetry contests are now available at the BWS Public Service Building lobby and Kapolei Hale during regular business hours, while supplies last. Each month of the calendar, showcases a winning poster and poem based on the 2017 contest theme, "Conserve to Preserve." The calendar also contains a coupon page filled with offers from our contest sponsors and an entry form and rules for entering our 2018 contests.
The 40th annual poster contest, for students in grades Kindergarten through 6, and our 10th annual poetry contest for students in grades 7 through 12, launches December 4th. The 2018 contest theme, “Conserve Water: Use It Wisely,” encourages Oahu keiki to remind others, in their artwork or poem, why it’s important to use our island’s precious drinking water wisely and offer ideas on how to be more water-efficient in our daily lives. The winning and honorable mention posters and poems for the 2018 contest will be featured in the BWS's 2019 Water Conservation Calendar.
Since 1979, the Board of Water Supply (BWS) has held an Annual Water Conservation Week poster contest for students in Kindergarten-6th grades to teach them about the importance of water conservation. Thousands of students enter the contest each year and since 1987, the winner's artwork has been featured in the BWS's Annual Water Conservation Calendar. This calendar, which is delivered to most Oahu public and private schools, all elected officials and community leaders, helps to remind Oahu residents to use water wisely throughout the year. Also included in the calendar are coupons from contest sponsors. View or download a digital copy of the calendar.
